The Stages of Grief are famous now, and we all know there is no shortcut through the pain.
Avoiding grief does not work. Grief insists on being recognized. It seems to have a "life of its own," as if it is processing through us.
Sometimes people get "stuck" in their grieving, or find the pain almost more than they feel they can bear.
Therapy provides support for working through these feelings, and allowing the heart to heal, while knowing that it will always remember.
